The victim has been identified as Rajendra Prasad Verma, who is the English teacher and class teacher of class 11. He had earlier confiscated mobile phones from three students who were caught using them in class, despite a ban. The phones were returned the following day after the students' parents came to collect them. However, the students were furious by the confiscation and planned to take revenge from the teacher.
On the day of the attack, as the teacher entered the classroom two of the students positioned themselves in front and behind him, while one of them, identified as Durgesh, suddenly placed a knife to his neck while the teacher was taking attendance. In a desperate attempt to defend himself, the teacher pushed the attackers away, but they continued to assault him, striking him multiple times on the head. The teacher fell to the ground, bloodied and injured.
The situation quickly escalated, with other students in the classroom running out in panic. However, a few brave students managed to stop the attackers and prevent further harm. The teacher, severely injured and bleeding, was rushed to the Community Health Center (CHC) for immediate treatment. Doctors, recognising the severity of his injuries, referred him to the district hospital for further treatment. His condition is now said to be stable and out of danger.
The entire incident was caught on the school's CCTV cameras, providing crucial evidence of the attack. Following the incident, the police registered a case against one of the attackers. SHO Rakesh Kumar Pandey confirmed that one student has been booked and investigations are ongoing.
As per reports, Navyug Inter College Principal Subhash Verma condemned the students' violent actions, he said that he was not present at the time of the attack but was embarrassed by the behaviour of the students.
