Indore (Madhya Pradesh): A welfare administrator was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 20000 in Indore.
The accused was identified as Vijendra Kumar Gupta, who served as the welfare administrator at Labour Welfare Organisation office opposite the General Post Office, Old Malwa House, in the city.
Gupta was caught red-handle when he accepted the bribe from 60-year-old Rajkumar Kale, a multi-tasking staff (MTS) employee at the same office.
According to Kale, his salary discrepancies had been corrected and he was entitled to arrears of around Rs 36000. However, Gupta demanded Rs 20000 to process the withdrawal of this amount.
Unwilling to pay the bribe, Kale reported the matter to Superintendent of Police (Lokayukta) Rajesh Sahay.
Accused arrested
Following verification of the complaint, a trap team led by DSP Praveen Singh Baghel was constituted which sent the complainant to the accused with the demanded amount. Kale then arrived at his office and offered him the amount. The moment Gupta accepted the bribe amount at the Old Malwa House office, the trap team intervened and caught him red-handed.
He was booked under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018. Further investigations are underway.
