Kolkata: ISKCON vice president Radharaman Das talking to the Free Press Journal (FPJ) on Tuesday mentioned that monk Chinmoy Krishna Das has been targeted after the hearing of the case got deferred by a month and Chinmoy Krishna Das’ lawyers got brutally attacked.
“We are tensed and every moment we are thinking of the health condition of Chinmoy Prabhu. I wonder whether he was even brought to the court. For next one month he will have to spend in jail and we don’t know what will be his health condition then. I am also shocked that the court could have deferred the case by a few days instead of a month,” said Radharaman Das.
Asked what he will say that no lawyers had appeared for monk Chinmoy Krishna Das to which the ISKCON Kolkata vice president said that he is in a state of shock.
“The lawyers who were in favour of Chinmoy Kumar Das are fighting for their lives. Lawyer Ramen Roy is admitted in ICU and another lawyer also sustained head injury. Some lawyers are absconding as they are being threatened. Two other monks who went to jail to give food and medicine to Chinmoy Prabhu are also arrested,” further mentioned Radharaman Das.
Radharaman also thanked Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for urging the central government to request the deployment of a UN peacekeeping force in Bangladesh.
“Mamata Banerjee had called me to inquire about the situation. She requested for a UN peacekeeping force in Bangladesh. In 2021 I had written for the same and had the UN peacekeeping force been deployed there then Bangladesh’s picture would have been different,” added Radharaman.
Notably, after monk Chinmoy Krishna Das was arrested, Radharaman Das had expressed his concern over the security of the arrested monk in the jail. Asked if ISKCON is particularly being targeted in Bangladesh to which Radharaman Das replied in affirmation.
Meanwhile, both Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari and Swami Parmatmananda of Akhil Bharatiya Sant Samiti warned of a strict embargo on trade between Bangladesh and West Bengal.
