Anjuman-I-Islam Allana English High School set up semi-final clash with Al-Barkaat MMI English Kurla with a innings and 103 runs win over

Matunga Premier School in the third round of 128th Harris Shield Super League MSSA Cricket Tournament at Karnatak CC on Tuesday. The semi-final will be played from December 9-11 at BKC. The second semifinal will be played between Modern English Chembur and Dnyandeep Seva Mandal Navi Mumbai at Parsee Gymkhana. The final will be played on December 16-18 at Cricket Club of India, Brabourne Stadium, Churchgate.

Resuming their batting on day 2, the Anjuman outfit posted a humungous 346-9 declared after 75.3 overs. Krrish Upadhyay was the star of the show, batting brilliantly for his unbeaten 100 in 118 balls, with 11 fours and two sixes. He stuck to his plan, ensuring his team had the upper hand. Afzal Sheikh smashed a half century. Left arm spinner Animesh Ghorpade picked a four-wicket haul. During their second innings, the Matunga side perished for 126 in 49.4 overs. Leg spinner Abdur Rahman Khan picked yet another fifer (5/45) in 21.4 overs, thus winning the Man of the Match award- an SG Voucher worth Rs 3,000. Yuvan Sharma snapped a three-wicket haul.

On Day 1, Matunga Premier School posted 117 in 40.4 overs. Rahman Khan took six wickets. In reply, Anjuman-I-Islam Allana were 199-8 after 43 overs, at stumps.

At ELF Oval Maidan, Modern English School (Chembur) defeated Anjuman-I-Islam Urdu (CSMT) by seven wickets. Resuming their batting on day 2, Modern English were reduced to 111 in 40.3 overs. Vinayak Chaurasiya picked four wickets, (4/26) in 18.3 overs while Hamza Khan snapped three wickets. Batting again during their second innings, Anjuman made 102 in 39 overs. Vivan Jobanputra picked another two wickets, adding to his match tally (7-37). Chasing down the total, the Modern team finished with 125-3 in 26.5 overs on day 2 courtesy Sudhan Sundarraj’s unbeaten 51.

Previously, put into bat first, the Anjuman CSMT team were bowled out for a paltry 130 in 48.3 overs. A stumps on day 1, Modern English were reduced to 94-6 after 32 overs.

Al-Barkaat MMI English Vs General Education Academy at Police Gymkhana

Al-Barkaat won by 20 runs General Education Academy at Police Gymkhana to secure a place in the semi-final all thanks to a brilliant bowling effort from Man of the Match- Left arm spinner Nitesh Nishad who snapped 12 wickets in the entire game. Resuming their innings on day 2, General Education finished with 179 in 57.3 overs. Ishan Pathak top scored with 43. Nitesh Nishad picked a six-wicket haul, (6-50) in 24.3 overs. During their second innings, Al-Barkaat scored 152 in 30 overs where Aakash Mangde made 65. Needing 93 for an outright win, General Education perished for 72 in 19.4 overs. Yet again Nitesh shone with the ball taking another six-wicket haul, (6-44).

Earlier on day 1, Batting first, Al-Barkaat were bundled out for 119 in 33.3 overs. Medium pacer Abhishek Pandey picked (4-64) while left arm spinner Yuvraj Patil took (4-28). In reply, General Education Academy were 166-6 in 46 overs at the end of day 1. Arya Karle made 60, Ishan Pathak 34. On the other hand, Nitish Nishad picked (3-43).

Dnyandeep Seva Mandal Navi Mumbai won on the bases of first inning lead against Parag English School (Bhandup). Resuming their innings, Dnyandeep made 291-8 declared in 76 overs. Shreyas Phapale top scored with 55. Virat Yadav made 48. Chasing down the total, Parag English finished day 2 with 74-2 in 22 overs. Shrihann Haridass made 31.

Earleir on day 1, Winning the toss, the Dnyandeep team elected to bowl first. While Parag English was bundled out for 142 in 70.4 overs. Shrihaan Haridas scored 39, Atharv Kore made 38. Left arm spinner Zaid Khan picked (4-45) in 28 overs while Off spinner Virat Yadav grabbed (3-42) in 19.4 overs. Coming out to chase down the total, Dnyandeep were 69-2 at stumps on day one in 17.3 overs. Varadraj Desai scored 35.
