Indore (Madhya Pradesh): A father was sentenced to seven years imprisonment for molesting his daughters, one of them a minor, by a local court on Thursday. District Prosecution Officer Sanjeev Srivastava said that the order was passed by Court of Thirteenth Additional Sessions Judge and Special Judge, (POCSO Act) Surekha Mishra.
The case registered at Rajendra Nagar Police Station, was argued on behalf of the prosecution by Special Public Prosecutor Sushila Rathore. In its comment, the court noted that the accused had tarnished the relationship between father and daughter.
If leniency is shown in such an act, it will hurt society and trust in the father-daughter relationship will be lost. The prosecution said that a girl (16) submitted a written application on December 15, 2021, to police that she and her elder sister (20) live in Indore. She said that her father sleeps next to them and at night he gropes them and touches their private parts.
On the night of December 14, 2021, they were sleeping when at 12:30 am her father forcibly came on top of her. She screamed and her elder sister came to rescue her. This angered her father who beat her up. Subsequently, they submitted an application to the Rajendra Nagar police station detailing their ordeal and demanding security. Police registered a case under POCSO.
