Mumbai: The Maha Mumbai Metro Operation Corporation Ltd (MMMOCL) has stated that almost 56% of ticket bookings on Metro Lines 2A and & are done through digital mediums. In an effort to enhance commuter convenience, MMMOCL launched the WhatsApp-based ticketing service in October.

In just one month, the shift to paperless travel has surged from 46% to an impressive 56%, MMMOCL said in an information shared through a post on various social media platforms. It stated that the usage of paper tickets has reduced by 10% within a month and hailed the commuters’ efforts in making greener, sustainable Mumbai a reality.

The post stated that the bookings are now being done through digital mediums such as WhatsApp, Mumbai One Card (NCMC Card) and the Maha Mumbai Metro App.

This innovative service, available to passengers on Metro Lines 2A and 7, allows commuters to purchase tickets directly through WhatsApp, eliminating the need for paper tickets and providing a seamless, user-friendly experience.

Commuters need to simply send a 'Hi' to the dedicated WhatsApp number 86526 35500 or scan the QR code displayed at stations to purchase tickets via a conversational interface. This service covers all stations and lines operated by Maha Mumbai Metro, offering a new level of digital convenience to Mumbai’s metro network.
