Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh): The contractual employees of Jabalpur Municipal Corporation, who were assigned as managers and caretakers of Rain Basera ( a govt shelter home), were caught red-handed enjoying ‘Mutton and Daru party’ in the campus.
The incident took place at Gokuldas Dharamshala (government lodge) on the night of November 24. The offenders were busted when the Municipal Assistant Commissioner Ankita Jain suddenly arrived at the spot during a late-night raid.
The shelter home is meant to protect the homeless and needy from the cold. However, it was misused by the staff for their personal enjoyment. The incident was also recorded in a video in which the official can be seen lashing out the employees.
‘Women, girls were staying in the shelter’
Informing about the incident, Assistant Commissioner Jain said, ”Around six to seven men were caught cooking mutton outside the Gokuldas Dharamshala which is absolutely inappropriate as the shelter houses women and girls. The men were also suspected to be drunk. Action would be taken against those found guilty after all investigations.”
According to reports, firewood meant to keep shelter residents warm was being used to cook mutton. There were around 6-7 individuals, including municipal employees and some outsiders and they were found enjoying the party beside the shelter's gate. The raid team seized alcohol, mutton, and other materials from the scene.
CM Mohan Yadav instructed to inspect all shelters
Jain also informed that CM Mohan Yadav had recently instructed officials to inspect and maintain shelter homes properly during a meeting with the Collector and Commissioner. Despite these instructions, such negligence and unethical behavior by municipal staff has created a stir in the municipal office.
Local residents are deeply angered by this incident. The municipal corporation has initiated a thorough investigation, and those found guilty will face strict punishment.
