Just two days after an unidentified woman’s body was found stuffed in two gunny bags on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway, a man was arrested for brutally killing his live-in partner with a hammer in front of their child and dumping her body in Khambatki Ghat.

The development came as a shock, as the 32-year-old man had initially reported his partner as missing. However, the investigation revealed that he had carried her dead body in the car with their son.

Murder on suspicion of charecter

The accused has been identified as Dinesh Popat Thombre. He works as a maintenance supervisor with an IT firm and also owns tea stalls. Thombre was in a live-in relationship with the deceased Jayashree Vinay More (27), and the two had a three-year-old son together.

Thombre had reported Jayashree as missing on Tuesday at the Wakad police station. However, when the body was found, it matched the description of the missing person. As the investigation progressed, technical details revealed his involvement. He was interrogated and confessed to the crime. Thombre murdered her after suspecting she was having an affair, and she had also been blackmailing him for money, threatening to inform his family. In a fit of rage during one of their arguments, he struck her with a hammer, killed her on November 24.
