The 12th edition of the Pune International Literary Festival (PILF) is scheduled to be held on December 14 and 15 at the Yashwantrao Chavan Academy of Development Administration (YASHADA) on Baner Road.

The inauguration will be led by Congress MP and author Shashi Tharoor. He will also speak in the opening session about his latest book, 'Wonderland of Words - Around the Word in 101 Essays'.

Manjiri Prabhu, an acclaimed English novelist and the founder of PILF, said that there will be around 100 speakers and over 70 sessions taking place in three different halls on the YASHADA campus.

Some highlight sessions of PILF 2024 include: a session with noted writer and historian Devdutt Pattanaik titled 'Ahimsa - 100 Reflections on the Harappan Civilization', where he will discuss his latest book with Bipinchandra Chaugule; 'Lokmanya Tilak - Celebrating the Visionary', featuring his great-grandson Dr Deepak Tilak and great-great-granddaughter Dr Geetali Tilak in conversation with Jayashree Raghothaman; 'Hum Dono - The Goldie & Dev Anand Story', where Tanuja Chaturvedi will chat about iconic Hindi film personalities Dev Anand and Vijay Anand with filmmaker Sriram Raghavan; and 'Yours Truly, Sameer', where lyricist Sameer talks with his biographer Shuja Ali about his life and the book 'Lyrics by Sameer: The Stories behind the Iconic Songs'.

In addition, there will be various activities for children and young adults, including 'Treasure Island', 'Fun with Augmented Reality', 'Mystery Room', and more. The festival will also feature an exhibition from the iconic 250-year-old Rampur Raza Library of Uttar Pradesh, showcasing copies of rare manuscripts and miniature paintings from the Ragmala Album, as well as facsimile copies of the Ramayan (1715 AD) and Quran (7th century).

The main objective of the festival is to facilitate a direct connection between creative personalities and experts with readers, creating an inspirational platform for creative individuals at all career stages. This approach promotes a culture of knowledge-based reading and learned appreciation of various arts and crafts.
