Indian grandmaster D Gukesh is currently playing the biggest tournament of his chess career as he lock horns against China's Ding Liren in a series of matches for the World Chess Championship title. The Indian is the youngest challenger for the world title.

How much money will D Gukesh and Ding Liren win on winning single game?
Every game a player wins will earn them ₹1.68 crore (USD 200,000). Ding Liren won the first game of the World Chess Championship on Monday before both players settled for a draw in Game 2. On Wednesday, Gukesh clinched his first win over Liren in the World Chess Championship, outplaying the Chinese on time control in the third round to draw level on points.
Total prize money for FIDE World Championship
At the 2024 FIDE World Chess Championship Final, the total prize money has been set at ₹20.75 crore. (USD 2.5 million). In case the winner is decided by a tie-break, the winner will get ₹10.79 crore(USD 1,300,000), and the runner-up will get ₹9.96 crore.(USD 1,200,000).
Key points about World Chess Championship
1) The single match, will comprise up to 14 classical games.
2) The first player to score 7.5 points will become the world champion.
3) The time control is 120 minutes for the first 40 moves, followed by 60 minutes for the next 20 moves, then 15 minutes for the rest of the game. There’s a 30-second increment per move starting on move 61.
4) Players are not allowed to draw by agreement before move 41.
What happens if the final goes into a tie-break?
1) The tie-break will begin with a four-game rapid playoff with a 25+10 time control.
2) It will be followed by a two-game playoff with a 5+3 time control and another two-game playoff with a 5+3 time control.
3)Three-plus-two individual games will be played until a winner is determined.
