Actress Jiah Khan passed away in 2013 by suicide on June 3 in her Juhu, Mumbai apartment. Later, Khan's boyfriend, actor Sooraj Pancholi was arrested on charges of abetment to suicide based on a six-page suicide note that mentioned her troubled relationship with Pancholi. However, he was granted bail after being jailed for 22 days. In 2023, a special CBI court in Mumbai acquitted Pancholi in Khan's suicide case due to a "lack of evidence."

Now, Sooraj's mother, actress Zarina Wahab opened up on Jiah's death and revealed that before meeting her son, she had attempted suicide 4-5 times. "Uske pehle bhi usne 4-5 baar try kiya hai, lekin naseeb aisi thi ki jab mere bete ka turn aaya toh it happened," she told Lehren in an interview.

Further, she stated that Sooraj's career was spoilt after being in jail in connection with Jiah's suicide. She said, "We all went through a bad time, but I believe in one thing: 'If you spoil anybody's life with lies, take it as a loan; it will come to you with interest.' Karma says that. Hum log ne intezaar kiya jab he was not guilty.

"It took 10 years, but he is out of it, and I am happy. It has affected Sooraj's career. Woh kya karti thi sab jaante hai, I don't want to open my mouth. Bolke mein apne aap ko chota nahi karna chahti hoon," added the Dil Dhadakne Do actress.

Sooraj had a promising start with Hero, which released in 2015, but his career got affected due to his girlfriend Jiah's death case.

Earlier, in 2023, Sooraj revealed that he is in a relationship, but his girlfriend is not from the film industry.
