To commemorate Constitution Day, a series of awareness programmes were organised near the statue of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar in Pimpri on Tuesday and Wednesday.
The two-day event, held in honour of Constitution Day, featured a variety of awareness and cultural programmes. On November 26, at 10:30am, a floral tribute was offered to the photograph of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar, the architect of the Indian Constitution, at the main administrative building of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) by Commissioner and Administrator Shekhar Singh. A collective reading of the Preamble to the Constitution followed. At 10:45am, a floral tribute was presented at the statue of Dr Ambedkar. This was followed by the inauguration of the educational programme organised for Constitution Day by Singh.
At 11:15am, a song performance was scheduled, featuring singers such as Suman Chopde, Maruti Jakate, Bapu Mane, Aniruddha Suryavanshi, Sunil Gaikwad and Nihal Lagade. At 1pm, musician Mangal Singh Solanke presented an enlightening song programme titled "Swaradhara." Following this, at 3pm, a programme titled "Tujhya Paaulkhuna" was presented, featuring songs on the Constitution, patriotism, and enlightenment, performed by renowned singer Chetan Chopde and his team.
In the evening session at 5pm, a seminar was held discussing the social system envisaged by the Indian Constitution. Speakers at the seminar included Prof Dilip Mahalinge (playwright, director, artist), Prof Dr Hrishikesh Kamble (commentator on Dalit literature), Prof Dr Archana Jagatkar (Head of the Department of Sociology, Kolhapur), K Abhijit (activist of the "Right to Love" movement), Mukul Nikalje (student activist), Dr Maulik Raj (Chicago), Avinash Tayde (Gandhinagar, Gujarat) and Pragya Jadhav (JNU Delhi), among others. This was followed by a cultural programme titled "Rang Aman Ke," presented by Nirimik Arts and Media Centre, Mumbai, which highlighted the values of the Indian Constitution at 7:00pm.
On November 27, the morning session featured an enlightening song programme presented by Gautam Badrike, Rahul Vighne, Roshan Teltumbde, Pandharinath Gadhe, Prabhakar Bhagat, and Sangeeta Bhandare. At noon, another enlightening song programme took place, with Vishal Ovhal, Bharatbabu Lonare, Swapnil Pawar, Dheeraj Wankhede, and Shekhar Gaikwad among the performers. At 2pm, a song programme based on the Indian Constitution featured renowned singers Sankalp Gole and Diksha Vavhal. At 3:30pm, a ghazal performance centred around the Indian Constitution was presented by Surpreet Ashok.
At 5pm, a cultural programme titled "Samman Samvidhancha," presented by Jayendu Matoshree Production, Pune, featured renowned playback singers Chandrakant Shinde and Gayatri Shelar. In the evening session, a cultural performance titled "Bharat Ka Samvidhan Hai," based on the Indian Constitution, was held, with famous singer Kunal Varale and his colleagues presenting their art.
Speaking at the event, Additional Commissioner Chandrakant Indalkar said, "The Indian Constitution has been instrumental in instilling the values of freedom, equality, fraternity, and justice among Indians, who have achieved remarkable success in all fields. Over the past 75 years, our country, India – the largest democracy in the world – has reached various milestones of success by following the path outlined by the Constitution. We take rightful pride in the Indian Constitution."
