India’s star batter Shubman Gill is uncertain about the Adelaide Test due to a thumb injury sustained during an intra squad match in Perth before the start the series. The injury ruled him out of the opening match, and there remains uncertainty regarding his availability for the upcoming day-night Test at Adelaide.

Ahead of the day-night Test, the visitors will play practice match against Prime Minister XI. According to Times of India report, Gill is certain to miss the practice match at the Manuka Oval, while his participation is Adelaide test also remains unclear. 

The report claims, "Gill was advised a 10-14 day rest by the medical specialist after suffering that injury. He won't play in the practice match on the weekend, and is doubtful at the moment for the second Test too. Let's see how much his injury has healed, how his finger feels. Even after it has healed, he'll need some quality practice before playing a Test match,"

Gill has scored 3 centuries and 2 fifties in the last 19 innings while playing at No3. Gill made his test debut against Australia in the 2020-21 tour since then his consistency has kept soaring high. During his absence in the opening test, Devdutt Padikkal was drafted into the playing XI. However he managed to score just 25 runs in two innings.
