Days after actress Nayanthara slammed Dhanush on social media with a wordy note, the latter has now sued her for using visuals from the film, Naanum Rowdy Dhaan, without his permission. As per reports, Dhanush filed a lawsuit in the Madras High Court against Nayanthara, and also her husband, filmmaker Vignesh Sivan.
According to a report in The Hindu, Dhanush's Wunderbar Films Private Limited filed the suit against Nayanthara, Vignesh, and their Rowdy Pictures Private Limited. It stated that the makers of Nayanthara: Beyond The Fairy Tale used certain visual from the film Naanum Rowdy Dhaan in the documentary without Dhanush and his team giving them the green signal for it.
Nayanthara is yet to respond to the lawsuit, and she is expected to present her side of the argument in the next court hearing.
On November 16, Nayanthara took to her Instagram handle to pen an open letter to Dhanush, in which she stated that he has hit an "all time low". She accused the Raanjhanaa actor of demanding Rs 10 crore for using a 3-second clip from Naanum Rowdy Dhaan in her documentary, Nayanthara: Beyond The Fairytale.
"I wish you were half the person you portray to be on stage in audio launches in front of your innocent fans but clearly you do not practice what you preach, at least not for me and my partner," she wrote.
In response to her letter, Dhanush's legal team had fired back a notice, asking Nayanthara to remove the 3-second clip from the documentary within 24 hours, but the actress did refused to comply.
"My client will be forced to initiate appropriate legal action, including but not limited to seeking damages to a sum of Rs. 10 crores against your client and Netflix India," Dhanush's lawyer had warned.
