UP: A young man, Ritik, a victim of an infamous urination incident a year ago, passed away on Monday night in Meerut. The 23-year-old, a resident of Ganga Vihar Colony, had left home earlier that day, informing his family that he was going for a job interview.
Later that night, around 1 am, his father, Karan Chaudhary, received a call from Rahul, one of Ritik’s friends, using Ritik’s phone. Rahul informed him that Ritik was in a medical emergency.
Ritik had attended a party with friends at a guesthouse on Garh Road, where his condition reportedly deteriorated. Rahul took him to a medical hospital, where doctors declared Ritik dead on arrival. His family accused his friends of poisoning him and causing his death, as per a report by Hindustan Live news portal.
A video has surfaced online claiming that the victim was killed due to brutal assault by his friends and then taken out of the guesthouse by one of the accused. However, other reports suggest that it might be Rahul who carried the victim to the hospital along with his other friends.
Amid the chaos, police detained Rahul for questioning, while the other two friends, Yuvraj and a person nicknamed 'Pahadi,' are currently absconding. Ritik’s body has been sent for post-mortem, and a case has been registered based on the family’s complaint.
What Exactly Happened That Night?
According to the report, during questioning, Rahul revealed that Ritik, along with Yuvraj and Pahadi, went to Abhinandan Guest House in the Bhavanpur area for a party. It was during this gathering that Ritik’s health worsened. As the situation escalated, they rushed him to the hospital. However, before any help could be administered, Ritik passed away. After bringing Ritik to the hospital, Yuvraj and Pahadi fled the scene.
Family Alleges Links To Prior Urination Incident
Ritik had been a victim of a shocking incident a year earlier when he was beaten, held captive and urinated on by some individuals who later made the video viral. Four individuals, including the main accused was arrested in the matter and they were sent to jail.
His family believes his murder may be linked to this previous incident. However, Circle Officer Navina Shukla confirmed that there is no connection between Ritik's death and the incident that happened a year ago, as reported by PTI.
Search Underway For Absconding Individuals
Police have intensified their investigation and are searching for the absconding friends. The case hinges on the post-mortem report, which will clarify the cause of death and guide further action. Meanwhile, Ritik’s family continues to press charges, seeking justice for what they believe to be a planned and deliberate act.
Local police officials have assured that a thorough investigation will be conducted, and appropriate action will be taken based on the findings of the post-mortem.
