After earning the first point in the World Chess Championship 2024 final on Tuesday, Indian Grandmaster D Gukesh will take on defending champion Din Liren in Round 3 on Wednesday (27 November) at the Resorts World Sentosa in Singapore.

After two rounds the 18-year-old Gukesh currently trails Din Liren 0.5-1.5. Gukesh, playing with the white pieces, suffered a defeat in the first match before settling for a draw in the second match on Tuesday (26 November) helping the youngster to earn his first point.

A couple of months back Gukesh scripted history by winning the Candidates Chess Tournament here to become youngest ever challenger to the world title.

The World Chess Championship 2024 is a 14-classical game series and the first player to reach 7.5 points will be declared as the world champion. Liren won the world championship in 2023 by beating Russian GM Ian Nepomniachtchi
