Indore (Madhya Pradesh): In a shocking incident, online fraudsters on Sunday attempted to digitally arrest a senior police officer, who has been investigating such cases and arrested some people recently. The officer got the call while briefing media persons. Additional DCP (crime) Rajesh Dandotiya was briefing media persons when he received a call from an unidentified number.

The conmen tried to dupe him by posing as Mumbai crime branch officers and told him that there were illegal transactions in his accounts. For about 6 minutes, the fraudsters kept trying to deceive him by telling him different things. Later, when they made a video call to talk to the officer, the fraudster dropped the call after seeing him in police uniform.

Dandotia informed media persons that the accused call people randomly every day. Dandotiya said that he received a call around 2 pm and the caller informed that I have withdrawn Rs 1 lakh from my account for illegal activities and that there has been an illegal transaction of money from suspicious activities.

The caller called from unknown numbers through an automated call. One number had Andheri East Police written on it and their logo was on it. So that I get scared and believe them thinking that they are really policemen.

Dandotiya played along to make people aware of such fraudsters

Dandotiya talked to the fraudsters for about 6 minutes and as per their instructions only to make the people aware about such fraudsters. He talked to the first thug and then talked to the second thug who pretended to be a crime branch officer.

As soon as another fraudster made a video call to dupe him, he was shocked to see the receiver in uniform. Later the fraudster disconnected the call. Dandotiya advised him to stop such activities. But without saying anything, he disconnected the call and disappeared from the network.
