DIMAPUR — A one-day industrial visit was conducted at the Power Grid Corporation of India in Dimapur on November 21 for Class 10 students of PM SHRI Government High School, Thahekhu, Dimapur. According to an update, the visit was organised by Atovi Awomi, vocational trainer (Electronics) at the school, with the aim of inspiring and motivating students beyond the confines of the classroom. During the visit, Abhishek Kumar, an engineer at power grid, guided the students and demonstrated various equipment currently in use at the station. This included the latest technologies such as the gas-insulated system (GIS), automatic relay station, and power transformers (step-up and step-down). Additionally, he highlighted the various types of insulators, conductors, and bus-bars, explained the purpose of the moisture remover machine, and discussed the uses of the oil storage tank. He also detailed the fire safety system in place at the grid for emergencies.
