DIMAPUR — Educational institutions celebrated Children’s Day on Thursday by organizing various activities. Children’s Day is observed every year on November 14 to commemorate the legacy of Jawaharlal Nehru, the country’s first prime minister, who was adored by the youth and affectionately referred to as ‘Chacha Nehru.’ The day is also observed to raise awareness of the value of childhood, child welfare and fostering an environment that allows children to thrive. MGMHSS: MGM Higher Secondary School (MGMHSS), Dimapur, celebrated Children’s Day at the school premises, where the vice president, principal, headmaster along with two students from Kindergarten lit the lamp, symbolising the ignition of young minds. In his p-residential address, Fr. Giju George emphasised the importance of education and character-building. He told children to always listen and obey their parents, elders and teachers. Reji Abraham, school principal, shared valuable insights on nurturing young minds and fostering a love for learning and encouraged them to focus on what they want to be in life.
