IMPHAL — The latest round of violence in Manipur has reportedly claimed five lives in Jiribam district on Saturday even as authorities responded by clamping prohibitive orders restricting the assembly of more than five people and carrying of arms and ammunition. The order will remain in force until further notice, according to the District Magistrate of Jiribam. This order comes after five persons were killed in Jiribam district, which borders Assam’s Cachar district—a day after an elderly man was killed in a rocket attack in Bishnupur district.
