Sri Vijaya Puram, Jan 19: At the call jointly given by CITU, AIKS, etc. at Delhi to observe 19th January, 2025 as Mazdoor-Kisan Unity Day throughout India, to mark the 42^nd year of the first All India Strike of workers and farmers on 19th January, 1982 in which ten workers and farmers were killed throughout the country in the firing by police, the CITU organised a Mass Demonstration at 10 a.m. today (19th January, 2025) in front of Municipal Council office, Aberdeen Bazar. R. Surendran Pillai, President, CITU Andaman & Nicobar State Committee inaugurated the programme. Addressing the gathering he briefly explained the first nation-wide joint strike by farmers and workers of 1982 and said that the farmers are currently on agitation for the last one year in Delhi and surrounding States with their genuine demands.
