Jammu: A pistol and two magazines were recovered after security forces opened fire on an approaching quadcopter from Pakistani side in Nowshera sector of Rajouri district on the intervening night of Thursday and Friday. The incident took place near Sair area close to the Line of Control (LoC) when it was dark. An Army official informed that the troops stationed in the area heard a humming sound and lights after which they opened fire in its direction. A search operation was launched in the morning during which a pistol and a magazine were recovered from the spot. A search operation continued till Friday evening. OC

Training held on digitisation of land records in Leh

Jammu: A two-day training on digitisation of revenue records was started under Digital India Land Records Modernisation Programme (DILRMP) by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Leh, Ghulam Mohd on Friday. The resource person from Revenue Training Institute, Jammu, gave a presentation about digitisation of jamabandis. The ADC said digitisation of revenue records is one of the great initiatives adopted by the Revenue Department, Ladakh. "It highly benefits the villagers and will aid the administration in making quicker policy decisions in the future" he said. The training session was attended by all the SDMs and tehsildars of Leh district. OC

Photo exhibition on Kargil Vijay Diwas at Srinagar

Srinagar: An integrated communication and outreach programme-cum photo-exhibition to mark the 25th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas was organised by the Central Bureau of Communication's Srinagar field office on Friday. The two-day exhibition, inaugurated by Srinagar Deputy Commissioner Bilal Mohiuddin Bhat, and is being held at Kendriya Vidyalaya Batwara. The exhibition aims to highlight the valour and patriotism of soldiers during the Kargil War in 1999. "The importance of such exhibitions in fostering patriotism and unity among the younger generation," the DC said. A large number of students and other visitors participated in the programme.
