Hamirpur, July 26

The no-confidence motion against the Hamirpur Municipal Committee president, Manoj Minhas, was defeated as six out of the 11 members voted in his favour yesterday.

In March, a no-confidence motion was initiated by the members of the MC, but the proceedings were delayed following the imposition of the election code for the Lok Sabha elections.

Later, the Election Commission announced byelections in three Assembly constituencies and the action on the motion was deferred by the Deputy Commissioner.

The proceedings of the motion were conducted yesterday by the DC in which six MC members voted in favour of Minhas. Notably, the MC president had joined the Congress during the elections.
