Union Minister of State for Planning, Statistics and Programme Implementation Rao Inderjit Singh has stated that political parties had hatched a conspiracy to reduce the political power of the Ahirwal region through delimitation, but the local residents not only foiled the conspiracy, but even turned it into an opportunity to gain political strength.

Region's interests top priority for Rao: Arti

Addressing the gathering, Rao Inderjit Singh's daughter Arti Singh Rao maintained that her father had always accorded top priority to fight for the rights of the (Ahirwal) region. "For this, he had to suffer political losses at times; and attempts were also made to humiliate him, but he continued to raise the issues of the people of the region," she asserted.

Addressing a thanksgiving meet at Dahina village in Rewari district on Friday, Rao Inderjit maintained that he had fought with successive governments to protect the interests of the region and people.

The minister also laid the foundation of various development works, including the Dahina sub-tehsil building, on the occasion.

"I fight with Chief Ministers as I cannot tolerate discrimination with my area. We have to fight to claim our rights, but there is a scarcity of politicians with such fighting spirit. Hence, I want to bring youngsters into politics who can safeguard the rights and interests of the people," maintained Rao.

Advocating the 72nd and 73rd amendments in the Panchayati Raj Act, the Union Minister maintained that the authority to write the ACRs of the officers should be given to the sarpanches and chairpersons of Block Development Committees and Zila Parishads.

The Gurugram MP remarked that many people had tried to get his Lok Sabha ticket cancelled, but Prime Minister Modi gave him the ticket and the public helped him win the election.

Countering the Congress' claims on the development of south Haryana, Rao pointed out that he was the MP from the area when the Central University, Sainik School, Defence University and ITBP centre at Jatusana were set up. "If I had not raised the issue, the Central University could have been shifted elsewhere," he stated. Kosli MLA Laxman Singh Yadav also addressed the gathering.
