This is the worst flu season in the United States in nearly a decade. So far, the country has recorded 29 million flu infections, around 370,000 hospitalisations and has seen around 16,000 deaths. According to health professionals, the surge is due to low vaccination rates, increased public exposure, and a highly contagious flu strain. Other factors, such as COVID-19, RSV, and norovirus, are contributing to an exceptionally harsh viral season.
