Drivers have been warned of a closure on a major route this morning after an incident. The M42 northbound has been closed after a vehicle fire today, Saturday, January 4.National Highways West Midlands told drivers the closure was in place from shortly before 11am. The incident is affecting J2 for Redditch. Traffic is instead exiting at J2 and re-joining the carriageway on the entry slip. Motorists travelling in the Worcestershire area have been told to expect longer journeys as a result. It is not known when the road will reopen or whether anyone was injured in the vehicle fire. They wrote to X, formerly Twitter: "The M42 northbound in Worcestershire is closed within J2 Redditch following a vehicle fire. Traffic is currently exiting at J2 and re-joining the carriageway on the entry slip at J2.
