Slashing crime is top of the new government’s agenda in its first sitting week, but other challenges loom

For just the second time in Queensland’s history, a modern Liberal will sit in the premier’s chair in state parliament this week.

It’s been 60,088 days since the sunshine state was granted responsible government, in 1860. For all but 1,000 days of the era of modern political parties, the boss has been either a Labor or Country/National MP.
