Cars damaged on Sydney Harbour Bridge by steel plate dislodged in downpour while heavy rains prompt emergency calls around the state

Homes are without power and businesses and cars have been damaged as the clean-up begins after major east coast storms.

State Emergency Service volunteers across New South Wales responded to 278 calls for help on Sunday night and Monday morning.
