A section of the palace of the 16th Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi, at Gidan Rumfa, was gutted by fire on Friday night around 11 pm, raising concerns about the security and safety of the historic site. According to palace sources, the perpetrators forced open a door, set the fire, and locked it, causing significant damage to the throne, air conditioners, and other valuables. Despite the severity of the incident, the Kano State Fire Service reported that they were not informed, as no calls were received at their centres.
