The Jigawa State Government has announced that properties valued at an estimated N5 billion were destroyed during the nationwide protests that took place in August 2024.

This was disclosed by Barrister Bello Fanini, Chairman of the fact-finding committee on the protests, during the presentation of the committee’s findings to Governor Umar Namadi at the Council Chambers of the Government House in Dutse on Tuesday evening.

Fanini, who is also the state’s Commissioner for Justice, revealed that the damaged properties included assets owned by the federal, state, and local governments, as well as private individuals.

He added that the committee had provided a series of recommendations aimed at preventing similar occurrences in the future.

In response, Governor Namadi commended the committee for their dedication and assured them that the government would thoroughly review and implement their suggestions. He also emphasized the importance of safeguarding lives and property throughout the state.
