One of Zamfara State’s most wanted bandits’ kingpins, Ado Aleiro, has reportedly gone into hiding as intensified military operations close in on his stronghold.

Reports indicate that military forces have ramped up their offensive against armed banditry, achieving significant breakthroughs in dismantling criminal networks across several villages in the eastern and western parts of Tsafe Local Government Area.

A reliable military source confirmed to newsmen that Aleiro has retreated to the remote village of Asaula in eastern Tsafe. The source added that the notorious bandit leader has been constantly shifting locations in a desperate bid to evade capture by security operatives.

“The pressure is mounting, and strategic ambushes by security forces have successfully neutralized key bandit groups,” the source disclosed.

Meanwhile, Aleiro’s brother, Dan Isuhu, another notorious bandits’ leader linked to numerous killings, narrowly escaped a military encounter along the Kyaware road. He reportedly crossed a river in a frantic attempt to elude pursuing soldiers.

The military’s relentless pursuit marks a major breakthrough in the fight against banditry in the region, leaving bandit leaders scrambling for safety. Residents of the affected areas have expressed relief and hope that the sustained offensive will bring lasting peace to the troubled axis.

Recall that Dan Isuhu recently imposed a N72.7 million levy on about 25 villages in the eastern part of Tsafe, further underscoring the scale of the banditry problem in Zamfara State.
