President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will depart Abuja on Saturday to participate in the 2025 edition of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW 2025) in the United Arab Emirates.
The annual summit, which runs from January 12 to 18 January,
was initiated by the UAE’s president, Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, to promote
global discussions on sustainability.
A statement by Bayo Onanuga, the president’s special
adviser, said the summit will bring together world leaders, policymakers, and
industry experts to accelerate sustainable development and chart new pathways
for socioeconomic progress.
Onanuga said the event will also enable policymakers,
business, and civil society leaders to explore pathways to fast-track the
transformation to a sustainable economy and evolve a new era of prosperity for
all.
“ADSW, a testament to the power of collaboration, has been
held annually for over 15 years. It provides a global platform to foster
multi-stakeholder cooperation in addressing global challenges and accelerating
growth,” the statement reads.
“It has birthed high-value agreements and strategic
partnerships between governments, industry leaders, and clean energy pioneers
worldwide, driving impactful alliances and advancing the sustainability agenda
worldwide.”
Onanuga said Tinubu will showcase his administration’s
reforms, including those related to energy sufficiency, transportation, public
health, and economic development, at the event.
The president will also meet UAE leaders to discuss
bilateral relations and other issues of mutual interest.
Tinubu will be accompanied by Yusuf Tuggar, the minister of
foreign affairs, and other senior government officials.
The president is scheduled to return to Nigeria on January
16.
