The noble game of Kings, polo took the center stage as various polo clubs across the country are bubbling with special polo events to mark the 2025 Eid holiday period with their families and friends after the religious fasting period.
Leading the list of major polo clubs that are headlining their 2025 Eid festivities are Guards Polo Resort in Abuja, Jos Polo Club in Plateau State, Bauchi Polo Club, home to the foremost Yankari Games Reserves and Kano Polo Club, among others.
Our sources reveal that Katsina Polo Club, the home of Nigerian polo, is in a grand celebration at the Sir Usman Nagogo Polo Ground, while Sokoto Polo Club is hosting a special event in the Seat of the Caliphate for Eid.
The serene Guards Polo Resort in Asokoro, Abuja, is welcoming thousands of visitors since the event begins on April 3, 2025, with festivities expected to culminate on April 6, 2025. Meanwhile, Jos Polo Club in Plateau State is buzzing with top-tier polo action, led by President Murtala Laushi and Jos Malcomines Polo Team.
Secretary Jos Polo Club, Hassan Gashash who confirmed this exclusively on phone, stated that the Jos event is scheduled from April 3-5, 2025 with teams from Jos and players from neighbouring cities participating.
“Yes we are packaging a special Sallah mini tournament this year for all the good reasons,” Gashash reassures, adding that “Jos Polo Club has a tradition of hosting Sallah tournaments and the committee is pulling all stops to host another exciting and memorable event this week.” he added.
In the lead-up to Eid, notable polo patrons, including Senator Hadi Sirika from Abuja and the SKK Polo team from Kaduna, have participated in chukkas at Jos Polo Club. Alhaji Aliyu Sambo, Vice President of Bauchi Polo Club, confirmed a three-day event from April 3-5, 2025, marking the start of national tour preparations.
