Anambra State commissioner of police CP ikioye orutugu has called for tripartite committee to look into the incessant incidence of fire outbreak at the main market Onitsha.

According to him, this committee will discuss and proffer solution to the incidences of fire incidence in Anambra state market.

He said the tripartite committee will make up of people from the police, market men and women and the government representatives.

He made the call on Monday during on spot assessment of the fire outbreak at ifejika Warehouse by Bida road main market.

He said that it is so saddened that these kinds of destruction of goods are happening in the market in the State.

“Already we have security issues,let us face it . But a situation where goods worth billions are burt everytime is against the state economy. if market continues to be burnt buying and selling will be diverted to another place.if we begin to hear about burning of goods it means that buying and selling will suffer and move to other place. We don’t have oil and gas in the State. It is through the buying and selling that we raise money to fund projects in the State ” he stated.

He also accused some of the traders of supporting sit at home, noting that any person who want to be poor should continue to support the sit at home.

According to him,nobody who is conscious about the survival of the state would support the sit at home, stressing that the sit at home is crippling the economy of Anambra State.

He admitted that many of the traders are ready and Willing to come to markets on Monday but are afraid of insecurity.

According to him, the Security situation is improving in the State as the police and government is doing everything possible to ensure there is security in place so that they will be coming market every Monday.

He however stated that the police is negotiating with the state and federal government to improve the presence of security and amenities to fight crimes.
