The chairman of the Abuja Municipal Area Council, Christopher Zakka Maikalangu, has congratulated Muslims in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and the entire Nigerians on the successful completion of the Ramadan fasting, calling on them to pray for the peace and unity of the country.

The chairman, who made the call in Abuja while receiving Muslim faithful in his residence, explained that the period of Ramadan fasting was a time when Muslims reflect with the wisdom that comes with faith, and the responsibilities that human beings have for one another and to Allah.

According to Maikalangu, it is also a time of intent devotion, where they fast during the day and pray at night with expectation for divine answers.

He said, “Ramadan is the month that Muslims believe that the Qur’an was revealed to Prophet Mohammed. This process reminds us about what we have in common as human beings, and the general belief in a united Nigeria, because fasting is a concept shared by many faiths, including the Christian faith.

“It is a way to bring people closer to God. This is a period that everyone must remember the kind of world we want to build and the changes that we want to make, which must begin in our hearts and communities.”

He called on Nigerians to continue to pray for their leaders as demanded by God.
