Four suspected armed robbers have died in a road crash on Tuesday while attempting to evade arrest in Nasarawa State.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in Nasarawa, SP Ramhan Nansel, said in a statement that one surviving suspect was arrested by police operatives.

Nansel said, “On March 25, 2025, at about 03:00 hours, the command received a distress call reporting an armed robbery incident at a residential area behind the stadium in Keffi LGA.

“Upon receiving the report, the Commissioner of Police, Shetima Jauro Mohammed, immediately directed operatives to pursue the fleeing suspects. Although the robbers had escaped before police arrival, officers strategically tracked their suspected escape route.

“Nemesis caught up with the robbers when the stolen vehicle they had snatched at gunpoint was involved in a fatal accident at Bola Junction along the Keffi-Abuja expressway as they attempted to evade arrest.

“Following the crash, police operatives attached to Goshen City Division rushed the five occupants of the stolen ash-coloured Toyota Camry (registration number ABC 621 CV) to Johepz Medical Centre, Kuchikau, for urgent medical attention.

“Unfortunately, four were confirmed dead by a medical doctor, while one suspect, Hussaini Mohammed, 25, of Uke, was arrested and is currently receiving treatment under police surveillance.”

He said preliminary investigations confirmed that the Toyota Camry was stolen from one Udochi Emeka, a resident behind the stadium in Keffi, adding that a further search uncovered assorted charms, two long knives, screwdrivers, several wristwatches, and 12 mobile phones.

SP Nansel reiterated the CP’s commitment to maintaining law and order, directing operatives to sustain the crackdown on criminals to ensure residents’ safety.

He urged the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
