Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri’s administration, through Adamawa State ACReSAL, is spearheading a transformative greening initiative in Jimeta-Yola. This project is designed to combat the rising temperatures during the dry season, enhance the city’s aesthetic appeal, and improve environmental quality by increasing tree cover. A greener Yola will not only make the city more beautiful but also contribute to better air quality and a healthier ecosystem.

Recognizing that planting trees is just the first step, Adamawa ACReSAL is also implementing measures to ensure their long-term survival. As part of this effort, the agency is installing boreholes at strategic locations, with five already in place. These boreholes are fitted with modern drip irrigation systems, ensuring efficient and consistent watering, even in the harshest conditions. By adopting this water-efficient technology, the government is making sure that the trees receive adequate hydration while conserving water resources.

Beyond the environmental impact, this initiative also brings tangible benefits to local communities. The boreholes provide additional water sources, supporting residents and contributing to sustainable development. This project reflects a commitment to creating a cleaner, healthier, and more climate-resilient Yola for generations to come.

It is now a shared responsibility to nurture and protect these trees. With continuous care and community involvement, Greater Yola can become a model of urban sustainability. Let’s work together to make this vision a lasting reality!
