The Taraba State Board of Internal Revenue Service has organised a two-day training towards the full automation of its revenue collection.
The training was held at the Taraba State Board of Internal Revenue Service’s conference Hall in Jalingo.
Declaring the training open, the Chairman Taraba State Board of Internal Revenue Service, General Jeremiah Faransa, retd, emphasized the need to prioritise training and re-training of staff for efficient service delivery.
He said the essence of the training was to bring staff up-to-date with the best revenue collection and management system, make tax collection easier, and ultimately improve the processes of internally generated revenue of the state.
The chairman added that other states have gone far in terms of digitization and advised the participants to be committed as the training will groom them towards greater outcomes.
General Faransa also appreciated I-Tech Platform Limited, their partner, for deploying what he described as a robust system that will enhance revenue collection and improve generation in the state.
In their separate speeches, the CEO of I-Tech Platform Limited, Mr Iliya Musa, and the CTO, Mr Joseph Adah Jonathan, expressed confidence in the Flopay Revenue Management System in automating the state’s internally generated revenue.
They emphasised the need to transition from manual collections, which are often rife with irregularities, to digital systems, describing it as the best and most efficient system of revenue collection.
They said the system has features that help create unique taxpayer identities and generate Tax Clearance Certificates and assessments, assuring that it will boost the IGR of the state and also track payment irregularities.
Mr Iliya Musa further advised the state government to take action against those who may want to jeopardize the process, maintaining that the system is flexible and can accommodate adjustments.
