A man, identified as Habibu, has been arrested for allegedly stealing a shoe during Tarawi prayers at Zango mosque in Gwagwalada Area Council of the FCT.
A witness, Bala Ibrahim, said the incident happened on Saturday around 8:17 pm when Muslims were observing the Ramadan Tarawi prayers at the mosque.
He said the suspect, who joined the prayers, later walked out of the mosque and picked a shoe belonging to a retired director of the FCDA.
He said the suspect, who hid the shoes inside a leather, was walking out of the mosque premises when he was apprehended by two security men, who were outside the main mosque.
He said the suspect was stopped from going out until after the prayers when some people descended on him and later handed him over to the vigilantes in the area.
A member of the vigilantes, identified as Rabiu Abdulmalik, confirmed the arrest of the suspect.
