Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, has suspended three commissioners for a month over their absence from an Executive Council (EXCO) meeting on March 17.
The affected officials are Solomon Azi (Grants and Donor Agencies), Victor Chukwu (Environment) and Ikeuwa Omebe (Rural Development).
The Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Jude Okpor, announced the suspension on Tuesday, stating that the affected commissioners will forfeit all privileges during the period.
The governor also sacked two of his aides for gross misconduct.
The affected officials are Mr Nnanna Nwangele, Special Assistant on Airport Security, and Mr Felix Okemini, Senior Special Assistant on Security for Ebonyi North District.
Their dismissal was announced in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Grace Umezurike.
Nwifuru warned public servants against laxity and also urged contractors handling government projects to speed up work as per contractual agreements.
In another development, the state government has approved the construction of staff quarters, a female hostel and a health clinic at the NYSC orientation camp in Afikpo to enhance infrastructure.
