The federal government has been urged to enforce Executive Orders No 003 and 005 to strengthen the economy.
The founder, Centre for the Promotion of Private Enterprise (CPPE), Dr Muda Yusuf, stated this during the 2025 national investiture of the Institute of Certified Sales Professionals, themed ‘Overcoming the challenges of selling Nigeria to Nigerians’.
He highlighted the importance of patronage of locally produced goods, saying import dependency would not help to fast track the recovery of the country’s economy.
“So government policy is very important. Already, we have what we call presidential executive orders. We have executive orders 003 and 005 to drive patronage of made in Nigeria.
“But it is one thing to have a presidential executive order, it is another thing to enforce it. That has been the problem because there is a flagrant violation. Even things that you can produce here, people will get the contract, they will go to China, they will go and build it. And yet you have a problem of unemployment here,” he said.
He stressed that the country’s economy is on the path of recovery, citing the decline in the prices of food and fuel, urging salespersons and businesses to improve on their strategies.
The president of the institute, Arthur Ozoigbo, highlighted the pivotal role of salespersons in the value-chain of businesses, urging the new inductees to build on the sales knowledge they have acquired.
