The House of Representatives has called on the federal government to through its security agencies tackle the rising insecurity bedeviling communities in Danja/Bakori federal constituency of Katsina State and parts of Katsina State.
The call followed the adoption of motions on urgent public importance moved by Rep. Abdullahi Balarabe Dabai at the Plenary on Wednesday.
Presenting his motion, the lawmaker representing Bakori/Danja federal constituency said communities in his constituency are living in constant fear due to activities of bandits causing loss of lives and properties as well as psychological trauma for a long time.
According to him, kidnapping incidents are being recorded in many communities in Bakori Local Government, adding that the bandits are demanding millions from the victims’ families.
He said a former director-general of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier-General Maharazu Tsiga (retd), is still in captivity since his abduction 28 days ago by bandits from his community in Bakori LGA.
Rep. Dabai said the security situation in Bakori, Danja federal constituency required urgent measures that would guarantee more security to residents.
The House adopted the motion and referred it to the House Committee on National Security and Intelligence, Police, Army as well as the Committee on National Emergency and Disaster Preparedness.
