Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has directed district heads to shift their loyalty to the newly established emirates and chiefdoms.
Speaking on Wednesday at the 6th coronation ceremony of the new Ptil Madagali, His Royal Highness Dr Ali Danburam, in Madagali Local Government Area, the governor emphasised the need for a seamless transition.
“As a policy, I urge all concerned district heads to transfer their loyalty, rights, and privileges to the new emirates and chiefdoms. Traditional titles associated with the old emirates and chiefdoms must be relinquished,” Fintiri said.
He further directed the newly constituted traditional councils to propose fresh titles for district heads in accordance with statutory traditions for official approval.
Fintiri, a native of Madagali, recalled the area’s past struggles with the Boko Haram insurgency but credited strong leadership and security efforts for restoring peace.
He highlighted the crucial role of traditional institutions in fostering unity and stability, affirming that the Madagali Chiefdom is here to stay.
Calling for unity, he urged the people of Madagali to support the new Ptil and uphold the values of peace and progress.
He also advised the Ptil to lead with wisdom, fairness and compassion while prioritising security, justice and economic development.
