The Ekiti State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of two suspects, Bashir Alaba (31) and Mohammed Jamiu (31) in connection with the murder of a 14-year-old girl in Emure-Ekiti.

The girl was reportedly killed after she resisted being raped by her attackers.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Sunday Abutu, said they were arrested very close to the scene of the crime with two cutlasses.

Abutu said the younger brother of the deceased, who escaped from the scene, told the police that two men accosted them and threatened to either have carnal knowledge of the deceased or kill her.

He quoted the brother as saying, “She refused and struggled with them and in the process, they brought out two cutlasses, slit her throat and cut off her right hand.”

Abutu added that investigation is ongoing.
