The horse named “Hope Renewed” and sponsored by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu won the star and crowing race to take home the star prize of a salon car, trophy and cash at the just concluded “Renewed Hope” International Horse Racing derby in Bida, Niger State.

The tournament was held at the Sultan Sa’ad Abubakar International Race Course Bida and was organized by HRH Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, the Etsu Nupe, in conjunction with the Horse Racing Federation of Nigeria, led by Alhaji Tajudeen A. Dantata.

The well-attended tournament had participating teams and horses from both Nigeria and neighbouring counties like Niger Republic.

The final of the 5-day tournament had in attendance several dignitaries and traditional title holders across Nigeria and beyond.

The Chairman of the National Sports Commission (NSC) Malam Shehu Dikko, who represented the President at the event, expressed his excitement for the opportunity to be a part of the “Sahel Savannah Series 2025.”

He said: “I was really honoured and privileged to have represented President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the final of the Renewed-Hope International Horse Racing Derby.

“By and large, it was a very successful horse racing tournament and indeed a great convergence of sports, royalty, tourism, commerce, peace, and unity.

“The tournament clearly is in sync with the vision of the NSC of creating a sports economy in the country and thus we will be engaging more with the Horse Racing Federation and other stakeholders to advance the sport and promote the organization of this international tournament across the county on a consistent and sustainable basis.”
