Stephen Ebarentonbofa, an engineer, has been elected as the new captain of the Benin Club Golf Section (BCGS), while Stella Ajayi assumes the role of lady captain. Both leaders, previously vice captains of the club, were automatically elevated to their new positions.

Other executive roles, however, were determined through keenly contested elections held at the clubhouse in Benin over the weekend. A total of 202 members were accredited to vote by the electoral committee, chaired by former club captain Osagie Nehikhare.

Victor Oriasotie, the immediate past secretary, emerged as the new vice captain, defeating former secretary Osazuwa Ehiorobo. Emmanuel Usoh secured the treasurer position, edging out Enoma Enomase, while Taofeek Ejalonibu triumphed over Jude Igbinadolor to become the new Competition Secretary.

For the role of course officer, Godwin Imaidiyi unseated the former position holder, Eghosa Otabor. Dr. Chukwunonso Ndekwu defeated Charles Ikechukwu Egbuziem to clinch the house officer role. Additionally, Dr. Anslem Dere and Benjamin Okonofua were elected unopposed as treasurer and caddie officer, respectively.

After being sworn in to lead the club for the next year, Captain Ebarentonbofa expressed confidence in his preparedness for the role, citing his two-year tenure as vice-captain. He pledged to build on the achievements of the previous administration and implement innovative projects.

Outlining his goals, he emphasized plans to achieve green fairways, a target already underway with laborers installing preparatory items for the irrigation system. He also highlighted plans to fill bunkers with sand, expand the T-box, and ensure all work is completed before the rainy season.
