Barely 72 hours after the governor of Anambra State, Prof. Charles Soludo, launched the Agụnechemba security outfit (popularly known as Operation Udo Ga-Achị), gunmen kidnapped a medical doctor from the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital (NAUTH), Nnewi.

While launching the security outfit, the governor said the initiative was part of his administration’s move to combat crime and restore lasting peace and security in the state.

The victim, a neurosurgeon, identified as Dr Collinus Onuigbo was said to have been kidnapped in the late hours of Tuesday.

According to a source, he was kidnapped in front of his residence, a few meters away from the hospital.

When contacted, the spokesman of the Anambra State Police Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the incident.

According to him, the command has already mobilised its men to rescue the victim.
