A 50-year-old trader, Kingsley Ekeanyanwu, was on Tuesday arraigned before a Federal High Court in Lagos, over alleged sale of fake drugs.

Ekeanyanwu, who resides at No. 257, Ikotun Idimu Road, Lagos, is being charged with possession and distribution of fake drugs.

The prosecutor, Mr Simon Bartholomew, told the court that Ekeanyanwu committed the offence on July 24, 2024, at a specialist hospital in Ikeja.

Batholomew said the defendant possessed, sold and distributed fake Amoxicillin 500mg capsules at the hospital.

He further said Ekeanyanwu used his ally at Onitsha Market, Jude Okoye, now at large, to sell and distribute fake drugs.

The prosecutor said the offences contravened Sections 1(a), 1(c), and 3, of the Counterfeit and Fake Drugs and Unwholesome Processed Food (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 2004. (NAN)

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.
