The Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP), Kaduna State has appealed to the Kaduna State government to consider pensioners in the issue of minimum wage to help them overcome their financial challenges.
They also expressed their readiness to synergise with relevant government agencies for the easy identification of their members.
The Secretary of the union, Comrade Alhassan Balarabe Musa while speaking with newsmen in Kaduna reassured them of their commitment to work with relevant authorities for the benefit of members.
He said the union and state government are working in synergy towards addressing challenges facing members especially in the area of monthly pension and gratuities.
He commended Kaduna State governor, Malam Uba Sani for his effort towards approving huge amounts of money as gratuities of some members of the union across the state last year.
He then advised the agencies responsible for the payment of pension and gratuities to continue to work hand in hand with executives of the union for easy identification of members when need arises.
He added, “We want to appeal to the government to consider pensioners in the minimum wage so that it can ease our financial burden. Also, the union plans to liaise with the state Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources towards ensuring members inclusion in farming and rearing of animal’s activities.”
