The police in Ekiti State have arraigned a 29-year-old man, Famojuro Segun, at a chief magistrates’ court sitting in Ado-Ekiti over alleged theft.

The prosecutor, Inspector Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court that on December 13 at about 09:30pm, the defendant did conspire with others to steal.

Inspector Oriyomi said the defendant and others still at large on the same date, time and place within the Magistrate District did steal an iPhone valued at N800,000 and the sum of N40,000, property of Ajayi Faith.

The prosecutor noted that the offence committed is punishable under sections 421 and 302 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State 2021.

Counsel to the defendant, Barrister Femi Olukosu, urged the court to admit his client to bail, saying he would not jump bail.

The magistrate, Mr Abayomi Adeosun, granted bail in the sum of N200,000 with one surety and adjourned the case till January 31, for hearing.
